About Screenshot beautifier

Place a screenshot on a gradient backdrop with a white rounded frame and a soft shadow, then download a 1280 by 800 PNG. Nothing is uploaded.

A bare screenshot on a blog post, a changelog or a social card looks unfinished. The usual fix is a coloured backdrop, some padding and a drop shadow, and the usual tools want your screenshot on their server to do it. Dashboards, customer names and tokens are exactly the kind of thing you should not upload for a prettier frame.

This page draws a fixed 1280 by 800 canvas. Two sliders set the look: Padding (24 to 120 pixels) and Gradient hue (0 to 360). Choose a screenshot and it is scaled to fit inside the padded area, given a white rounded card about eight pixels thick, a soft shadow, and composited onto a diagonal gradient that shifts forty degrees of hue from its start colour to its end. The sliders are read at the moment you pick the file. Moving them afterwards does not redraw a screenshot that is already loaded, so choose the file again to apply new values.

That is the whole feature set. There is no custom background image, no device frame, no solid-colour option, and no choice of export size. A tall screenshot ends up as a narrow card in the middle of a wide canvas, and a very small one is scaled up and will look soft. For phone or laptop frames, use the mockup tool. For code on a dark slate, use Code screenshot. The download is a PNG called beautified-screenshot.png.

How to use Screenshot beautifier

  1. 1Set the Padding and Gradient hue sliders before you load the file.
  2. 2Choose a screenshot with the file input.
  3. 3Check the preview. To change padding or hue, move the sliders and choose the file again.
  4. 4Click Download to save beautified-screenshot.png.

What it won't do

  • Fixed 1280 by 800 export size.
  • Gradient hue and padding only: no photo backgrounds, solid colours or device frames.
  • Hue and padding apply when the file is chosen, not live.

Common questions

Can I use my own background image behind the screenshot beautifier?

No, only the hue-shifted gradient is available. To put a screenshot on a photo, use Merge under Compositing instead.

Why didn't changing the hue or padding update my beautified screenshot?

Both values are applied when the file is loaded, not live. Move the sliders, then choose the screenshot again (selecting the same file works) so the canvas rebuilds.

Is my screenshot sent anywhere when I beautify it?

No. It is decoded and drawn on a canvas in this tab, and the PNG download comes from that canvas. You can confirm in your browser's network panel.

Why is my beautified screenshot always 1280 by 800?

The canvas size is fixed. The screenshot is scaled to fit inside it with the padding you chose, keeping its proportions, so very tall or very wide shots leave extra gradient on the sides or above and below.

Why this one doesn't upload your file

There is no server to upload to. This page is a static file, and the work happens in your browser using the same graphics and WebAssembly code that renders every other site you visit. Your file is read from disk into memory, processed, and handed back as a download. Once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the network entirely and it keeps working. The longer explanation
