About AI rules generator
Write one list of coding rules and get it back as five files: a Cursor rule, Copilot instructions, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, and .windsurfrules.
Every assistant wants its rules in a different place. Cursor reads a .mdc file under .cursor/rules, Copilot looks for .github/copilot-instructions.md, a number of agents read AGENTS.md, Claude reads CLAUDE.md, and Windsurf reads .windsurfrules. Type your rules once, one per line, and the page generates all five. Pick the file in the switch above the output and download that one, or copy it.
Only the Cursor file has front matter, and that is where the two other settings go. Cursor globs limit the rule to matching files (for example src/**/*.ts), and the Always apply checkbox sets alwaysApply to true or false. The other four files are plain text under your rule-set title, with no front matter. Bullet markers and numbering you paste in are stripped before the rules are rewritten as a list.
The generator only writes text. It doesn't install anything, find where your tool wants a file, or know when a vendor changes its format, which they do, so if a file isn't picked up, check the tool's current documentation. The page starts with three sample rules so you can see the output. Replace them with rules that are specific to your repo, and avoid padding the file with advice any model already follows.
How to use AI rules generator
- 1Name the rule set and write the rules, one per line.
- 2Optionally add Cursor globs and choose whether the rule always applies.
- 3Pick a file from the switch.
- 4Copy or download it, and put it at the path shown above the output.
What it won't do
- Rules only; no stack, command, or structure fields.
- Front matter (globs, alwaysApply) is in the Cursor file only.
- Formats follow the tools' conventions as of writing and may change.
Common questions
Which files does it produce?
.cursor/rules/project.mdc, .github/copilot-instructions.md, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, and .windsurfrules. The path is shown above each one so you know where to save it.
Do globs and Always apply affect every file?
No. They only go into the Cursor rule's front matter. The other files are the same plain list of rules under a title.
What's the difference from the CLAUDE.md generator?
The CLAUDE.md generator is a longer form, with fields for stack, commands, and structure, that produces one file. This one is only rules, but gives them to you in five formats.

Why this one doesn't upload your file
There is no server to upload to. This page is a static file, and the work happens in your browser using the same graphics and WebAssembly code that renders every other site you visit. Your file is read from disk into memory, processed, and handed back as a download. Once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the network entirely and it keeps working. The longer explanation
