About Text repeater

Repeat a piece of text a set number of times with a separator you choose, and copy the result. It runs in your browser.

Type the text, say how many times, pick what goes between copies, and the output updates as you change any of them. Separators are none, a space, a new line, a comma, or a custom string of your own, such as " | " or a tab pasted in. The output box shows a live character count, which is handy when you're checking how long a string needs to be.

People reach for it to build test strings for length limits (does this field really stop at 255?), to fill a spreadsheet or a form with dummy rows, to repeat a line in a commit message or a template, or to make a long run of the same character. It's a plain loop. Nothing in it is random or varied, so for believable placeholder text use the lorem ipsum generator instead.

The limit is by size, not by count: if the finished output would pass five million characters, the page shows a warning and prints nothing until you lower the number. That ceiling is there because a tab holding a larger string, and the text box rendering it, gets slow. An empty text box also gives empty output.

How to use Text repeater

  1. 1Enter the text to repeat.
  2. 2Set how many times, and choose a separator.
  3. 3Copy the result from the output box.

What it won't do

  • Output over 5 million characters isn't generated.
  • Plain repetition only: no numbering, randomising or variation between copies.

Common questions

Is there a limit on the count?

Not on the count itself, but on the output size. If the result would be over 5 million characters, the page warns you and shows nothing until the count or text is smaller. Repeat the output again for more than that.

How do I get each copy on its own line?

Choose New line as the separator. That's the default. The last copy doesn't get a trailing line break, as separators go between copies, not after the final one.

Can I use a tab or a custom separator?

Pick Custom and type or paste your separator, anything from ", " to " | ". A real tab character can be pasted into that box, but typing Tab will move focus rather than insert one.

Why this one doesn't upload your file

There is no server to upload to. This page is a static file, and the work happens in your browser using the same graphics and WebAssembly code that renders every other site you visit. Your file is read from disk into memory, processed, and handed back as a download. Once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the network entirely and it keeps working. The longer explanation
