Text

Markdown preview, text diff, case conversion, passwords, a random picker, notepad, and word count—all in the tab. The draft you paste isn't sent anywhere.

About Text

These pages are for writing and everyday text chores, not for shipping JSON through a stranger's linter. Preview Markdown, diff two drafts, change case, count words, mint a password, pick a name from a list, or keep a notepad that never leaves this browser.

Markdown preview is a preview, not a CMS. Diff is word-level, two panes. Case converter is for identifiers and headlines, not a style-guide oracle.

Developer utilities that used to share this hub—JSON, regex, hashes, JWT, YAML/XML, minify, cron—now live under Developer, so this list stays about prose and personal utilities.

Tools in this category

Markdown preview

Markdown preview renders as you type. Good for README drafts and comments. It isn't a full GFM implementation of every vendor extension, and it won't save to GitHub for you.

Text diff

Text diff highlights inserts and deletes between two panes. Config files, copy changes, two versions of a paragraph. It isn't a git client and it doesn't speak unified diff files unless you paste that text as text.

Case converter

Case converter maps between upper, lower, title, camel, snake, and kebab. Identifiers and headlines. Title case won't be a Chicago Manual. Camel case won't know that URL should stay URL.

Word counter

Word counter tallies words, characters, sentences, and a reading-time estimate. The estimate assumes ordinary prose, not code. Spaces and CJK will surprise you if you treat “character” as “English letter.”

Password generator

Password generator pulls crypto.getRandomValues and builds a string from the sets you tick. Copy it into a manager. It isn't a vault.

Password strength

Password strength guesses entropy and nags about common patterns in this tab. It won't phone a breach list with your string.

Random name / team picker

Random name / team picker draws a winner or builds teams with crypto.getRandomValues. Optional remove-after-pick for raffles without replacement.

Distraction-free notepad

Distraction-free notepad autosaves to localStorage on this browser, shows word count, and downloads .txt. Not synced anywhere.

Lorem ipsum generator

Lorem ipsum generator builds placeholder Latin by words, sentences, or paragraphs — plain text or HTML — from a bundled word list.

Text steganography

Text steganography hides a message in cover text with zero-width characters. Optional passphrase XOR; many apps strip the payload on paste.

URL extractor

URL extractor pulls the unique http(s) links out of pasted text. It does not check or crawl them.

Email extractor

Email extractor finds email-shaped addresses in pasted text. It checks the format only, never whether a mailbox exists.

Phone number extractor

Phone extractor finds phone-like number patterns in pasted text. It is heuristic, not a carrier lookup.

Duplicate line remover

Duplicate line remover drops repeated lines and keeps the first occurrence, with an optional case-insensitive mode. Whole lines only, no fuzzy matching.

Line sorter

Line sorter sorts newline-separated lines alphabetically, in reverse, or numerically. It sorts whole lines, not columns.

Slug generator

Slug generator turns a title into a lowercase, hyphenated URL slug with accents stripped. It does not check your CMS for clashes.

Markdown table generator

Markdown table generator builds a GitHub-style pipe table from headers and CSV-style rows. No merged cells.

Zero-width character cleaner

Zero-width cleaner strips invisible and bidirectional Unicode characters from text and counts what it removed. It will also destroy any invisible encoding you meant to keep.

PII redactor

PII redactor masks emails, phone numbers, SSNs, card numbers, and IP addresses by pattern. It is a first pass that needs a human read, not a compliance tool.

Text encryptor

Text encryptor encrypts or decrypts text with a passphrase using PBKDF2 and AES-GCM in the tab. There is no key recovery, so a forgotten passphrase means the text is gone.

Text to binary / hex

Text↔binary/hex encodes Unicode code points — not the developer number-base converter.

Morse code translator

Morse translator with Web Audio playback and a visual flash; standard ITU-ish table.

Fake data generator

Synthetic QA rows as JSON/CSV/SQL INSERT from bundled combinatorial lists — not real PII.

Wordle solver

Wordle solver filters a bundled list of 2,315 five-letter words by your guesses and the tile colours you click in. It has no link to any game and cannot see today's answer.

Anagram solver

Anagram solver finds dictionary words that use every one of your letters exactly once, with ? for a blank tile. It opens in the strict "use all letters" mode; the word unscrambler opens in the looser one.

Word unscrambler

Word unscrambler lists every word you can build from a jumble or Scrabble rack, longest first, with a minimum length. It shares the anagram solver's engine and list, but opens in "any length" mode.

Word frequency counter

Word frequency counts every word in a text, lowercased, and sorts by count, with a switch for common English words and a row limit. The CSV contains every word, not only the rows shown.

TOTP code generator

TOTP generator makes the six-digit codes an authenticator app makes from a base32 secret. Calculated locally; still treat the secret like a password.

Text repeater

Text repeater repeats a string a set number of times with a separator you pick. Output over 5 million characters is refused to keep the page responsive.

Rich text editor

Rich editor is a small formatted-text editor with eight toolbar actions that exports Markdown, HTML, or plain text. Nothing is saved, so copy what you need before you leave.

Markdown to HTML

Markdown to HTML turns Markdown into raw HTML source you can copy (nothing renders), or HTML back into Markdown. It is the source-out counterpart to Markdown preview, and HTML to Markdown is lossy.

Common questions

Does the notepad sync across devices?

No. It autosaves in this browser's localStorage only. Download a .txt if you need a copy elsewhere, and clear it on a shared computer when you leave.

Where did JSON formatter and regex go?

Under Developer. Same tools, clearer category: this hub is for drafts and everyday text; Developer is for formats, tokens, and code-shaped chores.

Is Markdown preview a security sandbox?

No. It sanitises with DOMPurify for the preview, but untrusted HTML still isn't something to open as if this tab were an isolation boundary.

Why these tools don't upload your files

There is no server to upload to. Each page is a static file, and the work happens in your browser. Your file is read from disk into memory, processed, and handed back as a download. Once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the network and it keeps working. The longer explanation
